Odetron contains Ondansetron which is an antiemetic medicine which is used to treat andprevent nausea and vomiting caused by surgery, cancer medicines (chemotherapy) or radiationtherapy. Odetron is FDA approved medicine for the prevention of nausea and vomiting. Itsworks by blocking a natural substance called serotonin in the brain that causes nausea andvomiting. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a variety of roles in the body includingmemory, cognition and mood. Serotonin also triggers nausea and vomiting when it binds tocertain receptors in the brain stem. Toxins and upsetting foods can trigger a sharp increase inserotonin, leading to nausea and vomiting. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy can trigger thiseffect as well. It’s also work for nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy andgastroenteritis. Odetron is most effective to prevent nausea and vomiting who have undergoingradiation therapy. It is also used after surgery as due to anesthesia given during surgery cancause nausea and vomiting.

Odetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting. Odetron is an antiemeticmedication. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in thebrain that may cause nausea and vomiting. Odetron should consume orally which is intablet form. Dosage may vary from patient’s age and health condition. Generally it isgiven before procedure start i.e. chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. Effect may longlast upto 12 to 28 hours.
